Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Ron Livingston, More Talk ‘Drinking Buddies’ at L.A. Premiere (Video)

The actors and director Joe Swanberg talk about improvising an entire movie about relationships

Joe Swanberg's indie comedy "Drinking Buddies" is entirely improvised, and the cast talked about the rare experience when TheWrap attended the Los Angeles premiere on Thursday, sponsored by Original Penguin and Svedka Vodka.

"This is the first time in film that I've had an entirely improvised film," Olivia Wilde said. "In films, often we try to improvise, we do alternate takes — but this was the first time where I've never had a script."

Despite Swanberg's approach of just "winging it," the romantic comedy has garnered mostly positive reviews so far, so Swanberg is doing something right.

"I write an outline and work with the actors to, sort of, develop the scene," Swanberg told TheWrap. "So they're almost co-writers, in a sense."

Find out what the producers, as well as stars — including Jake Johnson ("New Girl") and Ron Livingston ("Office Space") — had to say about their unique experience, in the video:
