“Somewhere in heaven, Oscar Wilde, Harvey Milk, James Baldwin and Michelangelo just shared a margarita,” one tweet says

After stealing hearts and headlines in South Korea, Olympian Adam Rippon just made his mark on the Oscars red carpet.

There weren’t many people at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater when Rippon showed up early rocking a bondage-inspired tuxedo by designer Jeremy Scott, but social media got a look at his choice and fell in love.

“Give Adam Rippon an Oscar for outfit,” one user wrote of the suit, which featured shoulder cut-outs and a leather harness across the figure skater’s chest (an accessory that proudly shouts out to a leather-adoring gay male subculture).

“The political importance of [Adam Rippon] is that he never gives anyone the safety of just enjoying his beauty or artistry without being reminded he has sex with men in the butt,” wrote comedian Guy Branum. “Bitch has rejected the situational closet, and he is a hero.”

Another simply said: “Somewhere in heaven, Oscar Wilde, Harvey Milk, James Baldwin and Michelangelo just shared a margarita.”
