New York Post Cover Warns Weekend Weather Will Be ‘Whiter Than the Oscars’ (Photo)

Another classic front page from the Big Apple tabloid

Ladies and gentleman, The New York Post!

The Manhattan-centric tabloid — like this Big Apple-based writer — is bracing for the coming weekend’s winter storm, which is set to drill the metropolitan area beginning on Friday night. The newspaper publisher took a moment — and a cover — to use the pending snow to take a jab at the Academy Awards, as perhaps only the New York Post can.

“This weekend will be… WHITER THAN THE OSCARS,” the cover mocked.

Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are publicly boycotting the Academy Awards. Spike Lee, who called the contest “lily white,” will also not attend — though he doesn’t want us to call his apparent protest a “boycott,” for some reason.

The Academy Awards has been under the microscope for the past two years for not including minorities in major award categories. This year, not one person of color was nominated for Best Actor or Actress, or Best Supporting Actor or Actress.

Here’s the Post cover mocking it all:
