Olivia Cooke and Daren Kagasoff in 'Ouija'

Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes’ low-budget teen horror “Ouija” has officially been given a sequel, which will be released on October 21, 2016, Universal announced Thursday.

Mike Flanagan & Jeff Howard (“Oculus”) wrote the screenplay for the sequel, which will once again feature the supernatural-themed Hasbro board game, with the ancient spirit board opening a terrifying door to “the other side” for unsuspecting victims.

The cast of the first film featured several young TV stars including Daren Kagasoff (“Secret Life of an American Teenager”), Bianca Santos (“The Fosters”), Douglas Smith (“Big Love”), Olivia Cooke (“Bates Motel”), along with Ana Coto. Stiles White (“The Possession”) directed and co-wrote with Juliet Snowden.

“Ouija 2” will be produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum, alongside Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis.

Universal will release the film worldwide.
