Director Matt Reeves Bites Into ‘The Passage’

Fox 2000’s movie is based on the vampire novel by Justin Cronin

Director Matt Reeves will direct "The Passage," a vampire movie based on Justin Cronin's bestseller, TheWrap confirmed Monday.

Fox 2000 is developing the project.

Reeves knows his scary: He directed the 2010's vampire movie "Let Me In," and the 2008 monster film "Cloverfield."

He was one of the directors reportedly looking at Lionsgate's adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." The studio announced Monday that Craig Gillespie will handle that project.

"The Passage" is an epic, post-apocalyptic story about a world overrun by vampire-like creatures after a botched government experiment.

The movie is set for a 2013 release.

Ridley Scott's Scott Free is producing.

Reeves is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and Karl Austen.
