People’s Choice Awards Nominations Revealed

Nominations were announced Monday for the 36th annual People’s Choice Awards, to be presented Jan. 6 at a ceremony hosted by Queen Latifah.

The short list of potential nominees for the awards was determined by national ratings averages, box office grosses, music sales and input from TV Guide magazine and Playlist.com; it was vetted through Visible Measures, the independent third-party measurement firm for Internet video.

After that process generated the top 12 candidates per category, fans cast more than 16 million votes online to select the nominees.

Voting is now open through Dec. 8 at www.peopleschoice.com and www.myspace.com/peopleschoiceawards for all 35 categories except Favorite New TV Drama and Favorite New TV Comedy, which will remain open for voting until the night of the show.

Mark Burnett produces the awards show, which will be held at the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live. Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.
