Tatum O’Neal Reteams With ‘Paper Moon’ Director Peter Bogdanovich for Showbiz Comedy (Exclusive)

Wes Anderson is producing "Squirrels to the Nuts," which stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston

Tatum O'Neal will reteam with her "Paper Moon" director Peter Bogdanovich on his new showbiz-themed comedy "Squirrels to the Nuts," which has also added Joanna Lumley ("Absolutely Fabulous") and Debi Mazar ("Entourage") to its ensemble cast.

Imogen Poots stars as a prostitute who gets a shot as a Broadway actress thanks to a married theater director (Owen Wilson) who falls for her charms.

Jennifer Aniston co-stars as an unprofessional therapist, while Lumley will play her mother.

Mazar has been cast as Poots' madame, while Richard Lewis and Cybill Shepherd will play the girl's parents.

O'Neal will make a cameo appearance, the context of which is being kept secret.

Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach and Holly Wiersma are producing with Logan Levy and George Drakoulias. Cassian Elwes, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are exec producing with Louise Stratten, Jeff Rice and Rob Barnum.

Lagniappe Films is financing the movie, for which Red Granite will be handling international sales. The picture is expected to be released overseas under the title "She's Funny That Way." Cameras are currently rolling in New York.

The last time O'Neal appeared in a Bogdanovich-directed movie was nearly 40 years ago in the 1976 comedy "Nickelodeon." She won an Oscar at age 10 for "Paper Moon" and had a recurring role as Denis Leary's younger sister on FX's "Rescue Me." O'Neal, who recently appeared in Judd Apatow's "This Is 40" and as Dakota Fanning's mother in "The Runaways," is repped by Mavrick Artists Agency.

Lumley, who starred in the cult TV series "Absolutely Fabulous," will soon be seen in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street." She's repped by Conway van Gelder Grant.

Mazar, who has worked with a diverse range of A-list directors such as Scorsese, Spike Lee, Woody Allen and Michael Mann, will next be seen in "Lovelace." She's repped by APA and Framework Entertainment.
