In the follow-up to the 2012 comedy, which raked in over $60 million at the domestic box office, the girls’ singing group finds itself embroiled in an international battle for not only the prestigious title, but also their very existence.
The plot for “Pitch Perfect 2” is set into motion when Wilson’s character, Fat Amy, accidentally flashes the Australian Prime Minister during one of their performances, getting the group into big trouble.
“The Bellas are suspended,” says Elizabeth’s Banks’, character’ “You’re being replaced by the European champions.”
But Beca (Kendrick) convinces the powers that be to bring the Bellas back to life if the group, which also includes Hailee Steinfeld and Brittany Snow, is able to do the unthinkable and emerge victorious at the World Championships of A Cappella.
Much like the original, this trailer promises a slew of fun musical numbers from the Bellas and their competition, including renditions of Miley Cyrus‘ “Wrecking Ball” and Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison.”
“What an inspiration to girls all over the country who are too ugly to be cheerleaders,” John Michael Higgins adds.
Elizabeth Banks directs “Pitch Perfect 2,” which opens on May 15.
