‘Power’ Universe Expands With 3 New Spinoff Series at Starz (Video)

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson returns as executive producer of the additional chapters

The “Power” universe is expanding with the launch of three spinoff series from creator, writer, producer and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Starz announced Sunday.

The three additional series are:

  • “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” the prequel story that takes viewers back to the ’90s and the early years of Kanan Stark.
  • “Power Book IV: Influence,” which follows Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate) in his pursuit of political power.
  • “Power Book V: Force,” which follows Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good.

“In television history, only a select few shows have inspired four consecutive series extensions, launched into active production and development at the same time,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz. “These new and exciting chapters will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters while featuring a growing ensemble of complex, distinct characters along with the high-octane drama that set Power in a class of its own.”

Starz previously announced its Chapter 2 in the series “Power Book II: Ghost,” which will star Mary J. Blige and Method Man.

The spinoffs fall under Kemp’s overall deal with Lionsgate to develop and produce content for the studio through her End of Episode banner, which she signed in 2018. Jackson also signed a four-year overall deal with Starz, which included a three-series commitment.
