Trump Says ‘Russian Officials Must Be Laughing at the US’ Over ‘Fake News’

POTUS calls Russian probe a “lame excuse for why the Dems lost the election”

President Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday amid on-going investigations that Russia interfered with the election, saying “Russian officials must be laughing” at the Democrats’ “lame excuse” for losing on Election Day.

U.S. intelligence officials have said that Moscow tried to interfere with the 2016 presidential election by hacking Democratic emails — Trump has expressed that it’s simply an excuse for Hillary Clinton supporters.

Trump has regularly called the mainstream media “fake news” since entering the world of politics. He’s now relayed on Twitter that he thinks Russian officials are amused by the constant reporting of various stories about his administration having ties to Russia.

A special counsel is now investing the alleged ties between Trump’s team and Russia.

Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is the latest member of the administration to be under fire. On Friday, a report by The Washington Post indicated that Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak reported to his superiors in December that Kushner wanted to set up a “secret and secure communications channel” between Trump’s transition team and the Kremlin.

Trump sent another tweet on Tuesday morning that is likely a response to recent comments by German Chancellor Angela Merkel that she can no longer rely on the United States
