‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ Trailer Adds the Art of War, Lots of Blood to Jane Austen Classic (Video)

Heroine Elizabeth Bennet has to overcome more than just her own prejudice to live happily ever after with Mr. Darcy

Lionsgate unveiled “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” to U.S. audiences for the first time on Thursday with a trailer that emphasizes the importance for any aristocrat to understand the Art of War.

Mainly, when blood-thirsty zombies rise from the ground and start raising Hell on 19th century England.

The first domestic trailer (Lionsgate UK previously released a preview) teases there’s still plenty of romance unfolding between Jane Austen‘s classic characters, Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) and Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley), except they’ll be doing lots fighting in the process.

“A woman must have a thorough knowledge of singing, dancing and the Art of War,” Mr. Darcy says, and Elizabeth seems to have mastered it.

The film is based on the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, which was itself a twist on Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” — also no stranger to Hollywood adaptations.

Matt Smith co-stars alongside Lena HeadeyCharles Dance, Suki Waterhouse and Bella Heathcote.

Burr Steers directed the Victorian-era horror movie hitting theaters on Feb. 5.
