Primetime Emmy Awards Set for August 29

NBC will air the awards, with nominations announced July 8.

NBC will broadcast "The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards” on Sunday, Aug. 29, according to Paul Telegdy, executive VP of alternative programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"NBC is excited to host television’s biggest night with the Primetime Emmy Awards," said Telegdy.

He said setting the telecast date this early gives NBC a head start on creative discussions with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which presents the Primetime Emmys.

NBC’s Aug. 27, 2006, broadcast of the Primetime Emmy Awards — which was shifted out of September because of the network’s Sunday Night Football telecasts — was the highest-rated entertainment program of that summer as well as the highest-rated Emmy Awards telecast of the past four years.

Emmy nominations will be announced July 8 at 5:40 a.m. PDT from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Leonard H. Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood.
