Same-sex couples may now get married again in California.
On Friday afternoon, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals lifted the stay on same sex marriages in the wake of the Supreme Court decision on the issue earlier this week. On Wednesday, the highest court in the country said it had no jurisdiction to rule on Prop 8, which banned same sex marriage, therefore allowing the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal's decision that the proposition was unconstitutional to stand.

Following that decision, Governor Jerry Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris urged the court to lift its stay as soon as possible to allow same sex marriages to resume.
Two days later, it did, with a short order reading: "The stay in the above matter is dissolved effective immediately."

A pleased Kamala Harris tweeted the news to her followers, saying "On my way to S.F. City Hall. Let the wedding bells ring!" She followed that up with "About to marry the #Prop8 plaintiffs Kristin Perry and Sandra Stier. Wedding bells are ringing!"
Soon enough a picture of Harris and the plaintiffs (above) began circulating on Twitter.
