Rebecca Ferguson Joins Hugh Jackman, Zendaya in ‘The Greatest Showman’

Michael Gracey will direct from a script by Michael Arndt

Rebecca Ferguson has joined the cast of the P.T. Barnum musical film “The Greatest Showman,” in which Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Zendaya are also set to star.

The film is set up at 20th Century Fox. Michael Gracey will direct from a script by Michael Arndt. Chernin Entertainment and Laurence Mark are producing.

Ferguson will star as Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, who was one of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century.

“The Greatest Showman” is an original musical with songs written by Justin Paul and Benj Pasek and is inspired by the life of P.T. Barnum (played by Jackman).

Barnum created the circus he dubbed “The Greatest Show on Earth.” The biopic focuses on the founder of the well-known traveling Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Ferguson will next star in the film adaptation of the novel “The Girl on the Train” for DreamWorks. She will also star in “Life” opposite Ryan Reynolds and Tomas Alfredson’s “The Snowman” opposite Michael Fassbender and Chloe Sevigny.

Her most recent credit includes playing Tom Cruise‘s leading lady in “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation.”

She is represented by ICM Partners and Tavistock Wood.

“The Greatest Showman” is looking at a Christmas 2017 release. Kira Goldberg is overseeing the project for Twentieth Century Fox.
