Relativity to Release Tarsem’s ‘Immortals’ on 11/11/11

Mickey Rourke stars as the ruthless King Hyperion in the 3D epic

Ryan Kavanaugh's Relativity Media will release Tarsem Singh's 3D epic "Immortals" on Nov. 11, 2011 in North America, while Universal Pictures will distribute the film internationally,  Relativity announced on Tuesday.

Henry Cavill ("The Tudors") stars as Theseus, a mortal chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke)  and his evil army, with the fate of mankind and the Greek Gods at stake.

Stephen Dorff and John Hurt co-star alongside rising stars such as Freida Pinto, Isabel Lucas, Luke Evans and Kellan Lutz.

Charles and Vlas Parlapanides wrote the script. Producers include Kavanaugh, Mark Canton and Gianni Nunnari, while Relativity's Tucker Tooley exec produced along with Tommy Turtle and Jeff G. Waxman.

Relativity will handle domestic marketing for "Immortals," having acquired Overture Films' distribution and marketing operations for an estimated $10 million back in July.

The company is said to be high on "Immortals," and recently gave Singh a vote of confidence by tapping him to direct its untitled 3D feature based on the Brothers Grimm's classic fairy tale "Snow White."

Relativity recently released the Nicolas Cage-starrer "Season of the Witch," and has both "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Limitless" opening in March. The company is also set to release David R. Ellis' untitled 3D shark thriller on Sept. 2.
