It’s a buddy road trip movie like no other. Richard Linklater is back in the director’s chair for the awards season drama “Last Flag Flying,” starring Steve Carell as Doc, a former military man whose son is killed in the Iraq War.
Doc reunites with his Vietnam buddies, played by Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne, to bring his son’s body back home to New Hampshire after passing up on an Arlington Cemetery military burial.
It’s been three decades since they served together in Vietnam and the group has some reminiscing to do, sharing memories on a bittersweet trip up the East Coast and coming to terms with their shared past.
Amazon Studios presents the Detour film and Zenzero Pictures/Cinetic Media production.
“Last Flag Flying” also features Yul Vazquez and Cicely Tyson. It opens the New York Film Festival on Sept. 28.
