A 33-year-old University of Delaware graduate student won $77,000 on "Jeopardy" Tuesday, the show's highest one-day total ever.
The record was previously held for more than six years by Jennings, who won $75,000 in 2004.
Roger Craig, a Delaware native, is completing a Ph.D in computer science and hopes to eventually work in the pharmaceutical industry. He first appeared on "Jeopardy" Sept. 13, since then, his two-day win total stands at $114,000.
“Breaking Ken Jennings' record is simply amazing,” Craig said. “I knew that I had a chance to set the new record going into Final ‘Jeopardy!’ so I thought what the heck … I’ll go for it … I’m ready to come back tomorrow and hopefully keep winning!” Craig said.
He may have lost his single-day record, but Jennings is still "Jeopardy's" biggest all-time winner with 74 victories and $2.52 million in prizes.
As of this writing, Jennings has not responded to a request for comment.
Jeopardy" debuted in 1964. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television and distributed by CBS Television.
