Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, the two co-stars of Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story,” will jointly receive the Outstanding Performers of the Year Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the festival announced Monday.

The actors will be recognized with the honor during a ceremony on Jan. 17 at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara. They join an awards ceremony that is already poised to honor Martin Scorsese and Renée Zellweger.

“Scarlett and Adam have had such admirable arcs to their careers – making smart choices between independent films and big Hollywood franchises. They both are such lyrical performers, imbuing their acting with keen sensitivity and intellect. Together in Baumbach’s ‘Marriage Story’ they regaled us with their best work to date,” Roger Durling, SBIFF’s executive director, said in a statement.

The award for Outstanding Performers of the Year recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves with exceptional performances in film in the past year. Last year’s honoree was “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek, though the Santa Barbara Film Festival has recognized acting duos in the past, including Margot Robbie and Allison Janney for “I, Tonya,” and “La La Land” stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

Other honorees have included Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan, Steve Carell, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Viola Davis, James Franco, Colin Firth, Penelope Cruz, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Heath Ledger, Kate Winslet and Charlize Theron.

“Marriage Story” is in theaters now and then launches on Netflix on Dec. 6.

Johansson and Driver star in the tragi-comedy as a married couple going through a divorce, with Baumbach examining their relationship from both sides.

Driver is an Oscar and Tony award nominee, and Johansson is a Tony Award winner. Driver also stars this year in “The Report” and in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and Johansson also stars in Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit” and the mega blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame.”
