Scott Walker to Exit Presidential Race

Wisconsin governor becomes second Republican candidate to drop out

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is set to withdraw from the presidential race on Monday night, according to media reports.

Walker is scheduled to hold a press conference in Madison, Wisconsin, at 6 p.m. ET to announce his exit from the race.

Once considered a frontrunner for the GOP nomination, a series of missteps and the rise of outsiders like Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, have taken a toll. Add to that a lackluster performance in last week’s GOP debate in Simi Valley, California, and his candidacy sank.

A CNN/ORC poll out this weekend found Walker drawing less than one-half of one percent of GOP primary voters.

Walker becomes the second Republican candidate to exit the presidential race. Texas Gov. Rick Perry dropped out before last week’s CNN debate.

Representatives for Walker have not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
