Screen Gems Gets Paws on Comedy ‘Catfight’ for Will Gluck to Produce (Exclusive)

The script was written on spec by "The Office" writer Amelie Gillette

Screen Gems has acquired Amelie Gillette's spec script "Catfight," which Will Gluck will produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner.

Veteran comedy writers Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka will executive produce.

Gluck brought the script to Screen Gems’ president Clint Culpepper, with whom he collaborated on "Easy A." Culpepper will oversee the project for the studio.

"Catfight" follows an insecure high school girl from a single parent household who gets a scholarship to an elite private high school in an attempt to reinvent herself. It's all going well until she finds out the boy she's dating has a crazy and psychotic ex-girlfriend, who suddenly returns from juvie and challenges her to fight it out after school. Now, our sweet and innocent hero has just a few hours left in the school day to figure out how to take down this maniacal beast on behalf of everyone who has ever been bullied.

Gillette is a TV writer whose credits include "The Office" and "Animal Practice."

Gluck is currently prepping Sony's remake of "Annie," which he rewrote and will produce via Olive Bridge along with Overbrook Entertainment and Marcy Media.  Gluck previously directed and produced Screen Gems’ comedies "Easy A" and "Friends With Benefits."

Gillette is represented by CAA and Management 360, while UTA reps Gluck, Gatewood and Tanaka.
