Sela Ward is joining the cast of "CSI:NY" as an investigator, filling the position vacated by Melina Kanakaredes, who announced Monday that she would not return for season seven.
Ward will play an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim, the network said.
Ward has won two Emmy Awards for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, one in 1994 for her role in "Sisters," and another in 2000, for "Once and Again." She was also a Golden Globe winner for lead actress in "Once and Again" in 2001.
She more recently has had a recurring role on the Fox drama "House."
"CSI:NY" is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Productions.
