Tuesday was a busy news day, from the appointment of Betsy DeVos on Capitol Hill to badly timed vacation photos courtesy of Barack Obama. Seth Meyers skewered both in last night’s “Late Night” opening monologue.

Meyers kicked off the show with news of DeVos’s confirmation as Secretary of Education despite failing to answer basic questions about policy and schools. She clinched the job thanks to a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Mike Pence. “And if you don’t know what a tie-breaking vote is,” Meyers quipped, “you’re probably Betsy DeVos. ‘What’s that? I got confirmed? Well that’s terrible news! Oh! It’s good news!”

Meyers then shifted focus to Obama, who has been vacationing since leaving the White House. The former POTUS posted pictures yesterday of him going kite surfing in the Caribbean with Richard Branson — and Meyers wasn’t having it.

“I know you don’t have to worry about any of this anymore, but could you not rub it in?” he asked. “This is why people unfriend their exes on Facebook.”

Of course, Meyers closed by making some jokes at President Trump’s expense. Just two weeks into his presidency, Trump has already been spotted golfing on the weekends — to which Meyers noted that “as usual, Paul Ryan carried his balls.”
