Seth Rogen Starring in, Directing Assassination Comedy ‘The Interview’

James Franco being eyed to co-star

Seth Rogen's directorial debut hasn't even hit theaters yet, but Sony Pictures is so impressed that it wants the funnyman to slide back behind the camera again.

Getty ImagesRogen will star in, direct and produce "The Interview," a spokesman for the studio told TheWrap. He will direct and produce the film alongside his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, with whom he directed the upcoming apocalypse comedy "The Is the End."

Like "This Is the End," the film has an offbeat premise. "The Interview" will center on a talk show host and his producer who become embroiled in a plot to assassinate the North Korea's prime minister. Expect plenty of Kim Jong Un jokes.

James Franco, who teamed up with Rogen so memorably in the stoner comedy "Pineapple Express," is being eyed for one of the leads.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Sony had picked up the project with Rogen attached.
