Shailene Woodley Is the Perfect Girl Next Door in ‘The Spectacular Now’ Trailer (Video)

The actress stars opposite Miles Teller in the teen drama, which won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting at Sundance earlier this year

Shailene Woodley may no longer be playing Mary Jane Watson in the "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, but she shines as the loveable girl next door in the first trailer for "The Spectacular Now."

Director James Ponsoldt’s Sundance hit, written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ("500 Days of Summer"), focuses on Miles Teller, a hard-partying high school senior on the verge of making big life decisions, and his sudden relationship with a quiet classmate, played Woodley.

Following her performance in Alexander Payne's Oscar-winning drama, "The Descendants," Woodley appears to give another strong showing before breaking into big-budget blockbuster territory next spring in Summit's "Divergent," a sci-fi thriller adapted from Veronica Roth's novel of the same name.

And like "Divergent," Woodley's role was also born in a novel. The coming-of-age drama is based on a 2008 novel by Tim Tharp.

Brie Larson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Kyle Chandler co-star in the film, which won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting at Sundance earlier this year. Look for the movie in theaters starting Aug. 2.
