‘Shameless’ Star Emma Greenwell to Get ‘Wild’ for Radiant Films International

British actor Tom Hughes is set to co-star in the dramedy from writer-director Vivienne DeCourcy

Radiant Films International has acquired international rights to Vivienne DeCourcy's uplifting dramedy "Wild," which stars up-and-coming actress Emma Greenwell ("Shameless") and Tom Hughes.

DeCourcy is making her feature directorial debut with the comedic drama, which she also wrote. Jay Cohen from the Gersh Agency is handling U.S rights.

In the vein of "Billy Elliot" and similar underdog tales, "Wild" follows a visionary young garden designer (Greenwell) who puts everything on the line in order to compete in the Chelsea Flower show, which is considered the Olympics of gardening. Hughes will play an idealistic environmentalist who she enlists to help her compete.

Funded by Green Earth, the Irish Film Board, RTE and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, "Wild" will shoot in Ireland and Ethiopia over the coming months.

The film will be produced by Treasure Entertainment and Crowe's Nest in Ireland with Green Earth in the U.S. Rebecca O'Flanagan and Rob Walpole will produce for Treasure, while Sarah Johnson and Chloe Kassis Crowe will executive produce.

“Vivienne DeCourcy has crafted a fun and quirky script which is a great antidote to today’s toils and troubles and provides a perfect star vehicle for the lovely Emma Greenwell and the talented Tom Hughes. I am thrilled to introduce this amazing project to buyers in Cannes,” said Mimi Steinbauer, president and CEO of Radiant Films.

Greenwell currently plays Mandy on Showtime's critically acclaimed series "Shameless," and she has also appeared on HBO's hit series "True Blood." Her latest film, Mitchell Altieri's "Holy Ghost People," was picked up earlier this year at SXSW by genre distributor XLrator Media. She's repped by WME, Thruline Entertainment and Troika.

Hughes' credits include Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's dramedy "Cemetery Junction," the Ian Dury biopic "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" and the BBC thriller "Page Eight." He recently wrapped Ronnie Thompson's movie "I Am Soldier," which will be released by Lionsgate UK. He's repped by UTA and Gordon and French.
