Shane Black is final negotiations to direct "Iron Man 3," an individual close to Marvel Entertaiment confirms.
TheWrap reported a week ago that the director was in negotiations on the much-anticipated sequel, and it appears those talks have come closer to a final deal since then.
Marvel had no comment.
Set to be distributed by Disney in May 2013, the director slot became open when Jon Favreau, who directed the first two "Iron Man" installments, demurred in order to direct Disney's "Magic Kingdom
Black has worked before with "Iron Man" lead actor Robert Downey Jr., having directed him in "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang."
