Shortlist for VFX Oscar Announced

Academy announces 15 films will contend for award including “Avatar,” “Star Trek” and “Transformers”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 15 films have been selected as semifinalists for a visual effects Oscar on Friday. In early January, members of the Academy’s visual effects branch executive committee will narrow the list tof semi-finalists to seven.

Nominations will be announced on February 2.
