“Sinister 2” looks reminiscent of horror classic “Children of the Corn” in the first teaser that debuted online Monday.
The sequel to the 2012 Blumhouse horror film, which starred Ethan Hawke and was directed by “Doctor Strange” filmmaker Scott Derrickson, appears to take place at a new haunted house, which is across the street from a cornfield.
The kids doing the haunting seem to like hanging out in the field when they’re not busy lurking in the shadows of the house, or watching terrifying home movies in the attic.
“Sinister 2,” co-written by Derrickson and directed by Ciaran Foy (“Citadel”), stars Shannyn Sossamon (“40 Days and 40 Nights”) as the single mother of two twin boys, and the family is targeted by their new home’s ghostly inhabitants.
Focus Features is releasing the sequel in theaters on Aug. 21.
