On the heels of his breakout turn in the hit Sundance movie “Sleight,” Jacob Latimore has signed on to join Will Smith in the thought-provoking drama “Collateral Beauty,” it was announced Friday.

Oscar winner David Frankel is directing the movie, which surrounds Smith with a top-notch ensemble cast including Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Kate Winslet, Oscar nominees Edward Norton and Keira Knightley, as well as Michael Pena and Naomie Harris.

Allan Loeb wrote the original screenplay, which follows a successful New York advertising executive (Smith) who experiences a personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, prompting his colleagues to devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.

Loeb is also producing the film with Bard Dorros (“Triple 9”) and Michael Sugar (“Spotlight”) of Anonymous Content, Anthony Bregman (“Foxcatcher”) of Likely Story and Kevin Frakes (“John Wick”) of PalmStar Media.

A presentation of New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, “Collateral Beauty” will be distributed by Warner Bros. in the heart of awards season on Dec. 16.

“Creed” cinematographer Maryse Alberti will shoot “Collateral Beauty,” which is currently filming in New York.

Latimore is best known for co-starring in “The Maze Runner,” though he has also appeared in “Ride Along” and “Black Nativity.” He delivers an impressive performance as a talented street magician who turns to drug dealing to take care of his little sister in J.D. Dillard’s thriller “Sleight,” which Blumhouse and WWE teamed to acquire out of Sundance’s NEXT section.

Latimore is represented by CAA, Jeremy Geffen of Geffen Management Group and attorney Jeremy M. Rosen of Selverne & Co.
