Here be dragons — the hilarious kind. The first of back-to-back-to-back new shows for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” featured “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage teasing Season 6 of the hit HBO show with “SNL” regular Kate McKinnon as Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen). But the scene stealer for the sketch was “SNL” stalwart Bobby Moynihan as a motion-capture actor playing a dragon who won’t stay in the background.
Dinklage got a lot of airtime as last night’s host. He also figured in “Naked and Afraid Celebrity Edition,” a sketch that had Dinklage in a survivalist scenario with one other celebrity — naked — for 21 days. Dinklage paired with “SNL” comic Leslie Jones in some serious physical comedy.
The “Game of Thrones” star also appeared as Winnie the Pooh in a sketch with Jay Pharaoh, who starred as Denny the Real, Pooh’s cousin from the city come to take Pooh out of sleepy Hundred Acre Wood and away to a life of fame and fortune. “Your cousin was just in a movie: ‘The Revenant,’” Denny the Real tells Pooh.
