Sony Pictures Classics will hold all North American rights, as well as Eastern European rights outside of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Russia. CIS is a grouping of post-Soviet states such as Belarus, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

“At Any Price” is directed by Ramin Bahrani (“Chop Shop”), who also co-wrote the project with Hallie Elizabeth Newton.

Set in the present day, it stars Quaid as Henry Whipple, the head of a farming empire. Henry wants his son Dean (Efron) to expand their holdings, but Dean wants to be a professional race car driver.

"Ramin Bahrani is a major American filmmaker. We've wanted to work with him for some time,” Sony Pictures Classics said in a statement. “He is a great storyteller not afraid of serious or big subjects. When we read ‘At Any Price’ we knew this would be a great leap forward for him as a successful director offering great roles for major actors.”

The film is in competition at the Venice Film Festival and will be a special presentation at the Toronto festival. Pamela Koffler, Teddy Schwarzman, Justin Nappi, Kevin Turen, Christine Vachon and Bahrani are the producers.
