Spice Girls Reunion Tour Is Just a Rumor, Says Baby Spice

Sorry Spice Girls fans, but there’s no reunion happening — yet.

Social media was buzzing Friday when The Sun reported that the all-girl group was reuniting, minus Victoria Beckham, for a tour in 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their breakout hit “Wannabe.”

However, Emma Bunton (a.k.a Baby Spice) quickly dispelled the story, announcing on her radio show that it was just a rumor. “If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know,” Bunton said on Heart FM.

The statement seems to indicate that there is at least some truth to the story, and that the once super-popular British group may at least be in talks for such a reunion.

Bunton also retweeted Sun reporter Dan Whooton who wrote the original story, when he said, “And a note from me to people saying Emma ‘denied’ story this AM. She didn’t. But no official announcement will come until later this year.”

Melanie Chisholm, better known as Sporty Spice, got in on the fun, too.

“Woke up this morning wondering whether I need to start practicing my backflips?” she tweeted. Bunton replied, “Do I need to put my pigtails in?!?!?”

“Wannabe” was a number one hit in 37 countries, and the group has sold over 85 million albums worldwide. They also starred in their own movie, “Spiceworld,” in 1997.

Despite Bunton’s dismissal of the tour, NBC’s “Today” reported the story. Watch Carson Daly get excited about it below.
