Spielberg Taps ‘Degrassi’ Star Liboiron for Fox’s ‘Terra Nova’

Newcomers Naomi Scott and Alana Mansour will play Jason O’Mara and Shelley Conn’s daughters

"Degrassi: The Next Generation" star Landon Liboiron and newcomers Naomi Scott and Alana Mansour will play the three kids in Fox's upcoming sci-fi series "Terra Nova," reports Entertainment Weekly.

Steven Spielberg is exec producing the highly-anticipated adventure, which is set to debut next year.

The show is set in the year 2149 when the planet is threatened by overpopulation and pollution. Jason O'Mara and Shelley Conn star as ordinary parents who travel with their children back in time to prehistoric Earth as part of an experiment to save the human race.

Liboiron will play 17-year-old Jim Shannon, who finds a father figure in Frank Taylor (Stephen Lang, "Avatar"). Scott will play his bright, 15-year-old sister Maddy, while Mansour will play Zoe, the youngest child who is smuggled into the time-traveling portal that transports the family to the Terra Nova settlement.

Mido Hamada ("24") co-stars as a trusted advisor who heads up security, and Alison Miller ("Boston Legal") is also part of the ensemble. One more series regular role has yet to be cast.

Other producers on the Twentieth Century Fox Television series include Brannon Braga, Jon Cassar, Peter Chernin, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Aaron Kaplan, Kelly Marcel, Katherine Pope and Craig Silverstein.

TV veteran Alex Graves ("The West Wing") will be directing the pilot, which is scheduled to start production next month in Queensland, Australia.

Liboiron will soon be seen alongside Kat Dennings and Josh Lucas in the indie "Daydream Nation." He is represented by Characters Talent Agency and Magnolia Entertainment.
