‘Star Trek 3’ Gets July 2016 Release Date

Justin Lin will direct the movie Paramount, Bad Robot and Skydance Productions

Paramount Pictures, Bad Robot and Skydance Productions have announced that “Star Trek 3” will open wide on July 8, 2016.

Justin Lin will direct the movie after he wraps the first two episodes of the second season of HBO’s “True Detective.”

Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto are returning for “Star Trek 3″ along with Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and John Cho.

“Star Trek 3″ will be produced by Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk as well as Orci, while Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg will executive produce.

The 2016 release date coincides with the 50th anniversary of the original“Star Trek” TV series.

“Star Trek 3” will open one week after Steven Spielberg‘s “The BFG” and David Yates’ “Tarzan,” and one week before “Ice Age 5” and Paul Greengrass’s untitled Jason Bourne sequel starring Matt Damon.
