‘Star Wars: The Old Republic’ Video Game Trailer Looks Better Than Half the Films (Video)

Let this brilliant six-minute digital expansion pack cut satiate you until “Rogue One”

We don’t technically have a Skywalker saga movie this year — fans will have to settle for spinoff “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” instead, and that film hits theaters in December.

Two weeks before that drop date, however, a new expansion pack — “Knights of the Eternal Throne” — for “Star Wars: The Old Republic” will be available for gamers to download. Fortunately, based on a gorgeous trailer, that dive into the universe appears to be about as cinematic as many of the actual movies.

In the six-minute teaser, viewers can feast their eyes on Emperor Valkorion and Empress Vaylin. The trailer — and, probably, the expansion pack — focuses on how the Force can turn good into (very) bad.

Here’s the official expansion pack description: “Battle to take control and rule the galaxy in the upcoming ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic Digital Expansion – Knights of the Eternal Throne.’ Face powerful factions, influence the galaxy for the light or dark side of the Force, and decide who lives and dies in your own ‘Star Wars’ story.”

The expansion pack will be released on December 2, 2016. It is available for pre-order now.

Watch the video above. The next film installment of the actual Skywalker saga — “Episode VIII” — is slated for December 2017.
