Stephenie Meyer’s ‘The Host’ Trailer Has Invaded (Video)

The trailer for "The Host" debuts, and it looks like "Twilight" writer Stephenie Meyer's reign over the box office will continue

"Twilight Saga" may be coming to an end this weekend, but the trailer for the latest Stephenie Meyer adaptation, "The Host," reveals there is plenty more romance to be reaped at the box office.

Starring Saoirse Ronan as the Bella-esque heroine, Melanie Stryder, the film takes place in a post-apocalyptic future on earth after most of humanity has been wiped out and replaced by a parasitic alien race, known as Souls, that erase their host's minds to take over their bodies.

The trailer starts off with Melanie meeting and falling in love with another Earthling left untouched by the invaders, Jared Howe (Max Irons), but things take a turn for the worse after she is captured and implanted by with an alien who eventually becomes known as "Wanda." Unfortunately for the invaders, humans are not like the beings they have inhabited in the past because their emotions are powerful.

Diane Kruger, who plays The Seeker, warns, "If her will has survived along with her memories, she may resist from within."

Oops!  Did the aliens just accidentally create the human's secret weapon?

That seems to be the case, providing Melanie's love for Jared can overcome the will of the alien Soul living inside of her.

Directed by Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca"), "The Host" invades theaters on March 29, 2013.
