With White House chief strategist Steve Bannon leaving his White House post, the former leader of far-right leaning Breitbart News could be returning to his old gig.
Vanity Fair reporter Gabe Sherman tweeted that Bannon is not only expected to return, but the site plans a “war against Trump.” Other prominent media members are saying otherwise.

Axios cited a “source familiar with Breitbart’s operations” and reported that “they would go ‘thermonuclear’ against ‘globalists’ that Bannon and his friends believe are ruining the Trump administration, and by extension, America.”
However, NPR media guru David Folenflik and New York Times White house correspondent Maggie Haberman also took to Twitter to offer their thoughts in the situation — which are significantly different:

This is more than just Breitbart articles with globes attached. This is also potential for Bannon still talking to Trump from outside.

“White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day. We are grateful for his service and wish him the best,” the White House said in a statement on Friday.
Bannon helped Trump win the 2016 election, serving as campaign chairman. However, he has often feuded with members of Trump’s inner circle, including son-in-law Jared Kushner, according to the Associated Press.
Bannon’s ties to Breitbart and the alt-right movement have put him under heated scrutiny since violence broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend when a woman was killed during a rally for white supremacists.
Breitbart News did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
