Steve Edwards Suddenly Exits KTTV’s ‘Good Day LA’

Station confirms that 22-year-veteran is ”no longer employed“ there

Longtime “Good Day LA” co-anchor Steve Edwards has departed the local morning news show, a spokesperson for Fox affiliate KTTV, where the program airs, told TheWrap on Monday.

“We can confirm that Steve Edwards is no longer employed by KTTV,” a spokeswoman for the station said in a statement.

No reason was given for the exit.

Edwards had been an anchor on the program since 1995.

While KTTV had no statement regarding the reason for Edwards’ departure, FTVLive reports that Edwards was let go following sexual harassment accusations made against him.

In addition to the “Good Day LA” stint, Edwards’ decades-long career has included a run as a talk-radio host for KABC, as well as the host of “Live in LA” on local outlet KCAL-TV.

As news of Edwards’ departure spread, his colleagues took to social media to express their surprise.

This just in….and stunning….. @SteveGDLA, Steve Edwards OUT at KTTV. Local legend on the air here for decades……,” tweeted KTLA anchor Sam Rubin.

Reporter Lisa Guerrero took to Twitter clarify that she “did NOT know Steve Edwards was going to get fired” when she earlier tweeted, “Just saw a commercial for #GoodDayLA on @FOXLA & they’re adding yet another host to try & capture their former magic. There is only one day to do that: BRING BACK @askjillian !!!”

Radio personality Tom Leykis, meanwhile, tweeted, “Merry Christmas, Steve Edwards! You’re fired?”

Edwards’ former “Good Day LA” cohost, Jillian Barberie, indirectly addressed his departure on Monday.

Prior to the news of Edwards’ exit, Barberie tweeted, “How about Steve’s 20 yr anniversary. Me and Dorthy[sic] were there for 18 of them. And we were cut out of every clip! You have to laugh,” making reference to fellow former “Good Day LA” personality Dorothy Lucey.

Shortly thereafter, Barberie tweeted, “Timing is everything. Jesus.”
