Steve Schoch Named Exec VP and CFO of Miramax

Krista Wegener and Thomas Moreno have also joined the company as VPs

Miramax has named corporate finance veteran Steve Schoch as the company's new exec VP and CFO.

Two other relative Hollywood outsiders have joined the company, as Alliance VP Krista Wegener has been named VP of international distribution, while Thomas Moreno has come aboard as senior VP of operations.

All three execs have previously worked for Disney.

Miramax brass has plans to attend Sundance, although it's still too early for the new regime to start aggressive acquiring material. The company is still in the process of choosing partners for global theatrical distribution.

Schoch will oversee business development, finance, accounting and IT, while Wegener will oversee licensing of the Miramax library and new releases outside the U.S.

Miramax is also planning to launch a comprehensive consumer website targeting indie film fans, which are the studio's bread-and-butter demographic. The site plans to include a social networking feature, exclusive Web content, and possibly an online film festival. The studio is also thinking of allowing its movies to be watched on the website and other online outlets.

Moreno will run the website, having spent the last 13 years overseeing strategy and development for Disney's theme parks and resorts.

Finally, Miramax is close to announcing theatrical distribution partners for "The Debt," "Last Night" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark," three unreleased movies that were shelved until after the sale of the studio was completed.
