Stolen Truck Crashes Into Stockholm Department Store, Killing 3 People (Video)

Swedish police are treating incident as a terror attack

A truck has plowed through a crowd and crashed into a Stockholm department store, killing three people and injuring at least eight, per The Guardian. Swedish police — and prime minister Stefan Lofven — are treating the incident as a terror attack.

There have also been reports of shots fired in the area and the local authorities have issued a warning for the public to avoid the city center. Public transportation in the capital city has been shut down.

The Spendrups brewery delivery vehicle was hijacked earlier in the day, the company says. After the truck drove into the crowd, a man carrying a weapon fled the vehicle, per a local report. There have also been reports of shots fired in a second location.

Sweden is one of the largest European areas tapped for recruitment by ISIS. That said, there has not been a terrorist attack there since 2010.
