TLC’s ‘My Strange Addiction’ Preview: Plastic Bags Don’t Count as Square Meals (Exclusive Video)

Wednesday’s episode follows Robert’s obsession with eating plastic, which would turn anyone else’s stomach

TLC’s “My Strange Addiction” constantly amazes me with its episodes about people whose obsession extends to consuming things that just don’t fall into any of the food groups. Wednesday’s episode is one of those times.

It follows 23-year-old Robert, who can eat up to 16 plastic bags every week. His worried fiancé tries to get him to stop and encourages him to eat actual food, but this guy is really far-gone.

In TheWrap’s exclusive preview, you’ll learn Robert’s system for acquiring plastic bags when his supply runs low. Plus, he describes the differences between plastic bags and how that affects how edible they are. It’s a lot, I know.

But, the episode doesn’t stop there. It also features 48-year-old Catherine, who has her own addition to a plastic product — an 18-inch doll named Volo. For the past eight years, Catherine has dotes on it as if it were a real child – feeding and giving it drinks, the whole shebang. Her daughter and boyfriend are appropriately desperate to get her to stop.
