John Bowman, who chaired the WGA’s negotiating committee when the guild embarked on a three-month strike that paralyzed Hollywood in 2007, will again spearhead the union's talks with producers when they come back around next year.
Bowman, a television producer, was named co-chair by the Writers Guild of America East and WGA West, with screenwriter Billy Ray also serving as co-chair.
Both are members of the WGA West board of directors.
Bowman chaired the WGA’s negotiating committee during the last round of labor talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Following a breakdown of talks, the guild voted for a strike authorization on Nov. 5 – a labor stoppage that lasted until Feb. 12.
The WGA’s current agreement with the AMPTP expires May 1, 2011.
