Stuart Beattie will write and direct Lakeshore Entertainment's "I, Frankenstein," TheWrap has confirmed.

"We've been struggling to get a writer, but Stuart Beattie came in with a great idea," Lucchesi said.

The movie is based on Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel about the monster standing between humans and other supernatural creatures who want to take over the modern-day world.

Tom Rosenberg, Luccesi and Richard Wright are producing the movie for Lakeshore. Grevioux is executive producer.

Beattie most recently wrote and directed "Tomorrow, When the War Began." He wrote "Collateral" and co-wrote "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," among others.
