Susan Sarandon, David Arquette in Talks for ‘Hemlock Drive’

The dramedy marks Rosanna Arquette’s feature directorial debut

Susan Sarandon, David Arquette and Adam Brody are in negotiations to join the cast of "Hemlock Drive," a dramedy being directed by Arquette's sister, Rosanna Arquette.

The movie is about an eccentric mother in Connecticut who learns she is dying and brings her three adult children back home for a weekend.

"She tries to bond the family before she dies, and she makes them throw her a living funeral," the movie's producer, Kristin Holt, told TheWrap Wednesday. "It's a very funny dramedy."

"Hemlock Drive" is Arquette's first feature film. The actress-director (right) has directed two documentaries, "Searching for Debra Winger" and "All We Are Saying."

Sarandon is in talks to play the mother. David Arquette would play Murphy, who owns a nearby bar. Brody would play Seth, the Sarandon character's son.

Jennifer Carta and Mandy Steckelberg wrote the script.

Holt is producing. Tracey Adam and Sascha Hecks, of Lex Filmed Entertainment, and Jace Hall, of HDFILMS, are executive producers.

The movie begins principal photography this September in Louisiana.
