T-Pain Proves He Can Sing by Ditching AutoTune for Dodgers National Anthem Performance (Video)

The R&B vocalist started using the musical effect in the late 2000s, but doesn’t seem to need it anymore

T-Pain doesn’t need a computer to sound good.

The chart-topping MC and vocalist, best known for being auto-tuned on hits like 2007’s “Buy U a Drank” and last year’s “Up Down” proved at the Dodgers game on Monday that he can actually sing, by belting out a wonderful rendition of the “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The audience was skeptical when the announcer said T-Pain would be singing the national anthem. But the sound of his stellar pipes came as a big surprise, and the crowd applauded him after his two-and-a-half minute performance.

Hopefully T-Pain will ditch the AutoTune and let his real voice soar more often.
