Thandie Newton to Star With Tyler Perry in ‘Good Deeds’

“Good Deeds” reunites Newton with Perry, who directed her in the 2010 “For Colored Girls”

Thandie Newton has been signed to star in Tyler Perry's latest Lionsgate offering, the romantic drama "Good Deeds," the studio has confirmed.

Newton will star alongside Perry, who is also the movie's writer and director.

Perry directed Newton in the 2010 "For Colored Girls."

The film revolves around a successful entrepreneur, about to become married, who becomes enamored with a down-on-her-luck single mother who rekindles a spark that seems to have faded with his uptown fiancee.

Tyler Perry Studios and Lionsgate are producing the film, which will shoot at the end of April in Atlanta.

Newton just wrapped production on "The Retreat" with Cillian Murphy and Jamie Bell.

She won the BAFTA best supporting actress award for her role in the 2004 "Crash."

Newton is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment and, in the UK, by Independent Talent.

Variety first reported the news.
