‘The Daily Show’ Imagines If Al Roker Were the Joker in ‘Roker’ (Video)

It’s funnier than the Joaquin Phoenix movie

On Wednesday, “The Daily Show” ribbed Warner Bros.’ upcoming supervillain origin story “Joker” with a fake trailer for a movie that answers the unasked question, “What if NBC’s Al Roker was the Joker?”

The clip for “Roker” intersperses footage of some of the “Today” weather forecaster’s wackier on-air moments with scenes (and the soundtrack) from the “Joker” trailer. Hear — and occasionally see — the grimdark aesthetic of the film directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, as Roker gesticulates madly, appears to freak out over the weather and essentially paints a chilling portrait of a man driven to the brink… of uh, weather prediction.

It’s pretty funny stuff, certainly funnier than the extremely (and intentionally) unsettling “Joker.” Watch the whole clip above.

Meanwhile, “Joker” hits theaters this weekend. Written by Phillips and Scott Silver and produced by Phillips, Bradley Cooper and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, the film depicts a troubled, ignored man’s gradual descent into villainous insanity until he transforms into what will eventually be Batman’s greatest arch enemy.

The film also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy, along with supporting roles performed by Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Brian Tyree Henry, Bill Camp and Shea Whigham.
