'The Flash' Season 3 Trailer Reveals Flashpoint Alternate Universe (Video)

“The Flash” is going to look very different when it returns, as the first trailer for Season 3 teases an alternate universe that one villain decides to call Flashpoint.

The trailer was unveiled at the CW superhero drama’s panel at the San Diego Comic-Con Saturday.

Season 3, according to the trailer, will find an almost-idyllic Central City for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), which resulted from his superhero alterego The Flash’s decision in the Season 2 finale to go back in time and save his mother from being murdered by his greatest foe, the Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher).

In this new universe, Barry’s parents are still alive and well, but his childhood best friend and love interest Iris (Candice Patton) barely knows who he is, and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) is the riches man in the world, but also a stranger.

There is at least one other superspeedster in the Flashpoint universe though, and that’s Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), aka Kid Flash.

At the show’s Comic-Con panel, executive producers and cast revealed the Flashpoint storyline will play out throughout the season, and a new villain would also be arriving in town, Dr. Alchemy, to be voiced by “Saw” actor Tobin Bell.

“The Flash” returns for Season 3 on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
