“The Goldbergs” star Wendi McLendon-Covey loved the show’s “Dirty Dancing” inspired episode, but there is one classic film the actress wants to tackle next.
“‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ — preferably ‘European,’” McLendon-Covey told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell during a new installment of “Drinking With the Stars.” “Just driving across country in their little station wagon, that writes itself. We could improv the whole thing.”
The actress also touched on the wide variety of pop culture references the show has become famous for using. According to McLendon-Covey, one star from the decade in which the show is set looks no different after 30 years.
“You really can’t have someone who was a star in the ’80s come and do the show because it’s set in the ’80s, because they don’t look the same. Except ‘Weird Al’ [Yankovic], because he is a wizard and he is ageless.”
“The Goldbergs” airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.
