James Franco Gets Serious With Jonah Hill in Searchlight’s ‘True Story’ Trailer (Video)

“The Interview” star plays a killer who takes on the identity of a former New York Times reporter in the upcoming drama based on a true story

James Franco is a very serious murderer playing games with a very serious Jonah Hill in the first trailer for serious drama “True Story.”

The upcoming Fox Searchlight release stars the “This Is the End” friends as real-life people Christian Longo (Franco) — a murderer who was on the FBI Most Wanted list for killing his family — and journalist Michael Finkel (Hill), who discovers Longo had been using his good name while on the run from the law.

The drama, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month, is the feature directorial debut of Rupert Goold, who co-wrote the screenplay with David Kajganich, based on Finkel’s memoir, “True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa.”

“Theory of Everything” star Felicity Jones co-stars as Finkel’s girlfriend, who appears to grow increasingly agitated by the writer’s obsession with his subject — especially after she gets a creepy phone call from the killer.
